Dress Code

SCHOOL UNIFORMS ARE REQUIRED DAILY. Children must arrive in clean, neat attire. The purpose of wearing uniforms is to emphasize academic achievement rather than fashion. This policy helps maintain a safe school environment. Being out of uniform will result in placement in ISS ( IN SCHOOL SUSPENSION) for the day. Parents will not be called to bring uniform.

Acceptable Uniform Wear:

  1. *Khaki (tan, not green), navy, or black uniform pants or shorts (girls or boys)
    • Must be worn at the waist (no sagging or oversized pants)
  2. *Khaki (tan, not green), navy, or black skirts, skorts, shorts, or jumpers (girls)
    • Must not be more than 3 inches above the bottom of the knee cap
  3. Students in grades 3 – 6 must wear belts with all pants, skirts, and shorts that have belt loops.
  4. White, navy, hunter green, red, or black shirts, short or long-sleeve polo style with a collar. STUDENTS MUST TUCK IN THEIR SHIRTS!!!
  5. Close-toed shoes. No sandals, flip-flops, high-heeled boots or shoes, cleats, skate-shoes, Crocs (or “sponge type”shoes), etc.!!!!!!!!! STUDENTS MUST WEAR SOCKS AND TENNIS SHOES DURING P.E.!!!!!!!
  6. Pullover sweaters or sweatshirts may be worn over the collared uniform shirt
    • Solid white, navy, hunter green, red, or black
  7. No shirts other than mentioned above may be worn over the uniform shirt.
    • White, navy, hunter green, red, or black undershirts (no logos) or turtlenecks may be worn underneath, tucked in, as needed for temperature changes.
  8. No caps, hats, or bandannas are allowed on campus.
  9. Skin tight attire that shows undergarments, excessively worn, frayed, or torn clothing is inappropriate and students will be reprimanded for wearing such. Clothing must fit appropriately.
  10. Hair may not be an “unnatural” color. No cuttings or designs in hair.
  11. No more than two earrings may be worn in one ear. Earrings must be no larger than ½ inch in circumference and must not dangle longer than ½” below the earlobe. No tattoos or body piercing may be visible.

*NOTE: Students may wear plain blue jeans on Fridays (blue only, no other color). No excessively worn, frayed, torn, or decorated jeans will be allowed. The school uniform tops OR the Cumberland Academy T-Shirt must be worn with the jeans. Cumberland Academy T-Shirts are sold by the

PTO for $10.00 each.
